Nourish Your Roots

It’s easy to get stuck in the belief that growth should feel big, dramatic, elaborate and immediate.
That we should be doing more.
Seeing more.
Achieving more.
But the truth?
Most meaningful growth doesn’t actually start with a dramatic shift… it starts with consistent nourishment.
This week at Empower Yoga Hartwell, we continue our Bloom & Build theme by focusing on what comes after rooting: nourishing your growth with care, breath, and presence.
What Does Nourishment Look Like in a Wellness Practice?
Nourishment isn’t glamorous, but it is powerful.
It’s not about doing more… it’s about doing what matters reliably.
Here are a few small, steady ways you can nourish your growth this week:
Breathwork — Not just to stay calm, but to energize and regulate your nervous system
Mindful movement — Moving with awareness rather than rushing toward a goal
Hydration & nutrition — Simple ways to support your body’s ability to heal and grow
Unrushed repetition — Returning to a foundational pose or habit instead of constantly seeking new challenges
Rest — Because recovery is where strength is actually built.
Each of these small actions is like watering your roots.
You may not see instant results. But day by day, these quiet choices shape how you feel, how you move, and who you become.
Growth That Lasts Starts Small
When I was a kid, one of the many instruments I set off to learn (and didn’t follow through of course 😅) was the violin. My instructor always said this: We often hear the phrase “practice makes perfect.”
But that’s not true.
Practice makes permanent.
What you do consistently becomes your foundation.
Whether it’s how you speak to yourself, how you move, or how you show up… you’re always teaching your body and mind something. Can you make taking care of yourself a habit?
So the question becomes:
What am I practicing?
What am I feeding?
Because what you water… will grow.
Let Your Progress Be Quiet… And Real
You don’t have to feel transformed to be transforming.
You don’t need before-and-after photos or dramatic milestones to prove you’re growing.
Often, the strongest changes happen invisibly:
A deeper breath in a moment of stress
An intentional pause before reacting
A willingness to show up even when it’s hard
These are roots.
And they’re worth everything.
Try This: A Nourishment Check-In
Grab your journal or reflect for a few moments:
What habits or thoughts have I been feeding this week?
Am I watering what I actually want to grow?
What’s one nourishing choice I can make today — even if it’s small?
Even five minutes of stillness can be nourishment.
Even one deep breath can be progress.
Keep Showing Up, Kindly
Nourishment isn’t about perfection — it’s about presence.
You don’t need to hustle to prove you’re growing.
You don’t need to bloom all at once.
You’re allowed to move slowly, breathe deeply, and build something strong — one mindful moment at a time.
