COMMON QUESTIONS

Getting Started

Is Empower the right studio for me?
We believe in the radical celebration of all people. Our classes are designed to be safe, accessible, inclusive, and welcoming for anyone who wants to practice. We advocate boldly for those experiencing oppression and marginalization in any form.

Do I need to sign up for classes beforehand?
While walk-ins are allowed after creating an account and signing a health waiver, we recommend booking in advance to guarantee your spot. Classes can fill up quickly, and those with reservations will have priority.

Can I share my membership with someone else?
Single class passes and 6-class passes can be shared, provided your friend has an account and has signed the health waiver. You must attend the class together for the pass to be used by someone else.

Do you offer livestream classes?
No, but we provide memberships that include access to our extensive video library, allowing you to practice anytime.

How can I view the class schedule?
Visit our online booking page or use the 'Classes' tab in our app.

Do class schedules change?
Yes, class times, locations, and instructors may change. We recommend downloading the "Fit by Wix" app for real-time updates and checking the online calendar before attending.

What is your refund policy?
All sales are final. We do not offer refunds or credits for any purchases.

Preparing for Class

What should I wear to class?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows for free movement. There's no need for specialized attire; just ensure you can move freely.

What should I bring to class?
Bring yourself and a bottle of water. We provide mats and any necessary props, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. If you forget, we've got extras!

Can I attend class if I'm not feeling well?
No. If you're experiencing any symptoms of illness, please stay home to protect the health of our community.

Can I practice with an injury or medical condition?
We welcome students of all abilities. However, we recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before attending, as we are not medical professionals and cannot provide medical advice.

Should I eat before class?
It's best to avoid heavy meals or large amounts of liquid right before class. Listen to your body and provide it with the necessary fuel to practice safely.

What is your mask policy?
Masks are not required, but you are welcome to wear one if you prefer. Please do not attend class if you suspect you might be ill.

Finding the Studio

Where is Empower Yoga Hartwell located?
Our studio is at 8 Benson St, Hartwell, GA 30643. We share the building with the Hartwell Sun; our entrance is on the right-hand side when facing the building.

Is there parking available?
Yes! There is ample parking, including handicapped spots. We ask that you avoid parking directly in front of the Hartwell Sun side of the building.

What if I can't attend a class I've registered for?
You can cancel your registration up to an hour before class without penalty. Late cancellations will result in the class pass being used.

Can I enter the studio if I'm running late?
No. Our doors lock at class time. To ensure the safety and focus of our students and instructors, late arrivals will not be admitted.

Pricing & Memberships

Do you offer any discounts or financial assistance?
Yes! Definitely check out our New Member Special, and if you work for the Board of Education, reach out to us about Empower's Educators discounted membership. Don't see something that fits within your budget? Reach out—we'd love to offer sliding scale pricing and find how to fit self care into your current budget!

Can I pause or cancel my membership?
Yes! You can pause your membership for one to three months once per year. To cancel, just email us at studio@empoweryogahartwell.com at least two weeks before your next renewal date. If you contact us after the two-week window, your membership will renew for that month but will not renew again afterward.

Do class passes expire?
Yes, class passes expire six weeks after purchase.

Class Information

I'm new to yoga. Which class should I start with?
We recommend starting with our beginner-friendly classes, such as Gentle Yoga, Slow Flow, or Chair Strength & Balance. These classes focus on foundational poses and breathing techniques.

Do you offer classes for specific needs, like prenatal yoga or chair yoga?
Yes, we offer two chair yoga & fitness classes each week!

What types of classes do you offer?
Our offerings include Yoga, Pilates, Sculpt, Barre, and more. Each class is designed to support mental and physical well-being. Read our class descriptions here.

Can teens or kids attend classes?
Attendees must be 16 years or older and must be accompanied by the adult responsible for signing their health waiver.

Private Classes & Events

Do you offer private or small group classes?
Absolutely! Are you interested in booking a private class or personal training session? We would love to meet you on the mat—whether you're anxious to attend a group class just yet or have specific goals in mind. You can find our private class booking here.

Would you like to book the studio for a private group class? We have held special private classes for workplaces, bridal showers, and birthdays! But you don't really need a special occasion to meet up with your favorite people, do you? You can book a group class here.

Should beginners consider private sessions?
Yes! We definitely encourage booking private sessions if you're new to yoga. We can help you learn the basics or even offer a private version of our group classes to try on your own first!

Culture & Cleanliness

What makes Empower different from other studios?
Unlike studios that focus on performance, aesthetics, or intensity, we prioritize mental health and create trauma-informed, inclusive classes. Our focus is on moving out of love, not punishment. We welcome all bodies, abilities, and experiences.

How are mats and props cleaned?
Props and mats are cleaned regularly with science-backed cleaners like Lysol to keep things fresh and safe.

What if I forget my mat or water?
That’s okay! We have mats, props, and usually water available for your practice.
